U.S. Senator Gardner Applauds Nearly $3 Million for COVID-19 Testing at Rural Health Clinics

Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Cory Gardner (R-CO) applauded the announcement from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) that a combined total of $2,918,225 is being awarded to 59 Rural Health Clinics in Colorado to expand COVID-19 testing access in rural communities.

“Rural Health Clinics play a critical role in our rural communities and are on the frontlines of the fight against COVID-19,” said Senator Gardner. “I’m pleased to see this critical funding from the Department of Health and Human Services delivered to 59 Rural Health Clinics in Colorado to expand testing capabilities. Widespread testing for COVID-19 is crucial, and I will continue working to ensure all areas of our state have the resources they need to get through this pandemic.”

This funding is provided by the Paycheck Protection Program and Health Care Enhancement Act and is in addition to the $159 million provided by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) last week, more the $11.7 million provided by HHS earlier this month to Colorado community health centers, and the more than $10 million provided by the CDC in April to increase Colorado’s testing capability.
