NFU: Bipartisan Resolution Supports Country-of-Origin Labeling

As family ranchers struggle with market disruptions and depressed prices, a bipartisan group of  Senators is working to provide relief through mandatory country-of-origin labeling (MCOOL).
U.S. Senators Mike Rounds of South Dakota and Jon Tester of Montana – along with cosponsors Steve Daines of Montana, John Thune of South Dakota, and Cory Booker of New Jersey – introduced a resolution in support of  the reinstatement of country-of-origin labeling for beef products. MCOOL, which was in place for beef for several years before it was repealed in 2015, required retailers to inform customers what country beef products were born and raised.

National Farmers Union (NFU) has advocated for COOL for 35 years in order to provide more information for consumers and to allow American farmers to differentiate their products. The organization applauds the resolution and will continue its decades-long fight for truth in labeling.
