Bent-Prowers Cattle & Horse Growers Association: 2019 Pedal the Plains…

SPRINGFIELD – More than 25 ranchers and their families were a part of the support team for Pedal the Plains bicyclists who rode through the Lamar-Holly-Springfield area on Sept. 13-15.

Bent-Prowers Cattle & Horse Growers handed out beef jerky at an early stop, then served cheeseburgers, roasted potatoes, fresh Rocky Ford melon and homemade cake to riders on Saturday night. Following the #betterwithbeef campaign, Karney Land & Cattle, Kasza Farm, Russell’s Reflected R Ranch, and Rink Farms & Livestock donated the hamburger, with the cyclists commenting on the delicious 100% beef content.

The cattlemen were aided by Southeast Colorado CattleWomen and Southeast Colorado Junior Cattlemen members. Other sponsors included the Colorado Beef Council, Hirakata Farms, Otero Junior College, Springfield Lions Club, Springfield Baptist Chapel and WW Feed & Supply.

Bent-Prowers Cattlemen, formed in 1870, serves the ag community in Bent, Baca, Crowley, Kiowa, Otero and Prowers counties. Volunteers from each of these counties helped to promote the region and beef to the weekend bicyclists.
