CSU Extension: Silage for Beef Cattle Conference in Yuma and Burlington on June 14th
WRAY, CO – Calling all livestock producers, feedyard managers, cattle industry nutritionists, and farm operators! The Silage for Beef Cattle Conference, hosted by University of Nebraska – Lincoln Extension, the Iowa Beef Center and Lallemand Animal Nutrition, will be live-stream broadcast in Northeast Colorado on June 14th.
This one-day conference is an opportunity for those who produce and manage silage to increase their understanding of effective silage management. Topic areas will include improving the nutritive value of corn silage, minimizing shrink, considerations for utilizing silage in backgrounding and finishing cattle, and accurately pricing the feedstuff, among others.
Those interested are encouraged to join CSU Extension at one of two locations (Kit Carson Co. Extension Office or Yuma Co. Fairgrounds) to view the live-streamed conference. The program will start at 7:30 A.M. and wrap up around 3 P.M.
In addition to the live-streamed program, Dr. John Wagner, a faculty member and researcher in the Animal Science Department at CSU, will attend the Yuma viewing to lead discussion focused on silage strategies for Colorado producers. This will be a great way for attendees to learn about current research being conducted by those at CSU, ask nutritional questions directly related to their enterprises, and take part in discussion focused on strategies for improving production efficiencies through silage management.
Registration for the event is necessary and can be done over the phone by calling the Yuma County Extension Office (970-332-4151) or registering online at https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScmDgKkuDBGzacy5fYC7G-NmgUs5rMNSkPh-cZoh7DV5tuw-w/viewform?c=0&w=1https://form.jotform.com/mliv24/silageregistration-square.
