Curious about the status of the up-and-coming National Western Center? Just last month, the City of Denver purchased a half-acre site for $1.76 million. It’s a plot on the eastern edge of the planned campus, which is crucial to the site’s future design.

The city has closed on 17 of the 38 parcels it needs to expand the campus from 130 to 250 acres. Buying those properties started a year ago, and plans are to have all of the property acquired by the end of 2017. At that point, the actual moving of soil and construction of buildings can begin to take place.
