CYFEA Announces 2017 Scholarship Winners
The members of the Colorado Young Farmers Educational Association are proud to sponsor an outstanding educational scholarship program.
We are pleased to announce that the recipients of the scholarships for the 2017-2018 year are as follows:
- Stephanie Bushnell of Ft. Lupton, CO attending NJC
- McKenzie Schneider of Gill, CO attending CSU
- Molly Cooksey of Roggen, CO attending NJC
- McCall Etl of Fleming, CO attending CSU
- Nichole Fischer of Windsor, CO attending CSU
The purpose of the scholarships is to recognize outstanding students who will be attending a Colorado institute of higher education. Winning applicants will be a freshman or sophomore majoring in Agriculture, a junior majoring in Agricultural Education, and a senior majoring in Agricultural Education working toward teacher certification during the 2017-2018 year.
The selection of the scholarship recipients is based upon scholarship activities and interest in agriculture and teaching Agricultural Education. The five one-year college scholarships include: two $500 awards for freshmen, one $500 award for a sophomore, one $750 award for a junior, and one $1250 for a senior.
This year we again had many deserving scholarship applications and all were worthy of consideration. The judging scores were very close on many of applications…some just one to two points difference. An alternate has been chosen for each scholarship year, in the event that the winner cannot fulfill the obligation.
Recipients will be awarded the scholarships on Wednesday morning, June 14, during the CO FFA Convention at CSU-Pueblo. We are proud of all of the students who applied and wish them success in the year ahead.
