Charles E. Durland of Evans, Colorado | 1935 – 2017 | Obituary

Charles E. (Charlie) Durland, 81 of Evans, CO passed away April 7, 2017 with family present. He was born November 9, 1935 in Brighton, CO to Lloyd and Marie Durland.

Charlie grew up in Brighton, CO and attended Brighton High School. He was a member of the Brighton FFA Chapter. Upon graduation in 1954, he then enlisted in the United States Navy and served four years where he was assigned to the USS Evans as part of its commissioned voyage. He was member of the Brighton Elks Lodge and was also a member of the Briggsdale Lions Club.

Charlie worked multiple occupations including: plumber, farmer/rancher, welder, volunteer Fire Chief in Idledale, CO, truck driver, and finally owner operator of C&C Pilot Car Service, LLC.

In 1960, Charlie married Pat Yanta and two daughters were born of this marriage, Brenda Lynn and Jennifer Ann.

Charlie is survived by his loving life partner of 47 years, Christine (Chris) Allmer; daughter, Brenda Durland Hermanson of Hardin MT; sons, Jerry Allmer of Greeley, Steve (Penny) Allmer of Vallejo, CA, Brian (Connie) Allmer of Briggsdale, and Robert Dye of Evans; siblings; Edward (Dee) Durland of Henderson, Bonnie Durland of Henderson, Arlene Neese of Brighton and Duane (Linda) Durland of Yuma; 11 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Warren and two daughters, Jennifer Durland and Harlene Allmer Fiscus.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 12, 2017 from 6:00 to 8:00pm at Tabor-Rice Funeral Home, 75 South 13th Avenue, Brighton, CO.

Funeral Service will be held Thursday, April 13, 2017 at 11:00am, with visitation one hour prior, at Two Rivers Fellowship, 2424 23rd Avenue, Greeley, CO.

For those unable to attend the funeral service, a webcast and archive will be provided online @

Graveside Service will follow on Friday, April 14, 2017 at 1:00pm at Fort Logan National Cemetery, Staging Area “A”, 4400 West Kenyon Avenue, Denver, CO.
