The National Cattlemen’s Beef Association’s 2017 Legislative Conference is an opportunity to spend three days in the nation’s Capitol, meeting with key congressional and agency influencers to articulate our industries policy priorities. While NCBA staff regularly meets with these policy makers, the most influential meetings are with producers that travel to D.C., bringing local perspective to the beltway.
With over 729,000 beef cattle operations in the United States, the uniqueness of the industry is driven from the diversity across the country. While operations from coast to coast may look significantly different, national policy decisions made in Washington D.C. impact each and every stakeholder in the industry. Ranging from tax and trade, to nutrition, food safety, environmental and federal lands issues and more, policy issues cover a wide variety of topics and a strong showing of NCBA members in Washington is vital to the association and to the beef industry.
We encourage every cattle producer to come to D.C. to learn about the issues and help advocate on Capitol Hill.
NCBA Legislative Conference is sponsored by:
“By just showing up and participating you can make a difference in Washington D.C. People don’t believe it, but it’s true. It’s important to be involved and it’s really gratifying knowing you make an impact.”
Kevin Kester, California rancher
“I have been attending the legislative conferences for many years as it offers me, as a rural rancher, the unique opportunity to be on the Hill, meet face-to-face with agencies and political decision makers, and have a voice. PLC and NCBA put together a wonderful opportunity for each individual to participate, have a voice, and learn how they truly can make a difference by being there.”
