The Colorado Make It With Wool Contest is coming up November 5, 2016 at the Adams County Regional Park and Fairground-Good Luck Building. The state contest is a for-runner for the National Make It With Wool Contest being held, this year at the Denver – Marriott City Center January 26-28, 2017.
The many activities scheduled for the state contest on November 5th, include garment judging and modeling, demonstrations and workshops and a Leg of Lamb Lunch.
The event is open to the public.
The objective to the Make It With Wool Contest is to promote:
- the use of wool fiber
- to promote the beauty and versatility of wool fabrics and yarns.
- encourage personal creativity in sewing, knitting, crocheting, spinning and weaving wool fabrics and yarns as well as creative skills.
- The development of life skills, including: being responsible for one’s self, sportsmanship, accepting judges’ decisions and learning about and appreciating diversity
The interested in the Make It With Wool contest has increased tremendously in recent years, with Contestants, 4H Members who are participating in the event and Sponsors being from across the entire state of Colorado, as well as the Nation.
The contest sponsors include: the American Sheep Industry, American Wool Council, Colorado Wool Growers, and Colorado Fabric, Above and Beyond Sewing and Vacuum and Yocom Testing Laboratories.
Those wishing to enjoy the Leg of Lamb Lunch are asked to RSVP and donate to defray food preparation expenses.
