Bill Fischer Appointed to Northern Water Board of Directors
Dennis Yanchunas and Don Magnuson Reappointed
BERTHOUD – William “Bill” Fischer of Larimer County was appointed to a four-year term to the Northern Water and Municipal Subdistrict Boards Sept. 28, 2016, by District Court judges.
Fischer is a shareholder in the law firm of Fischer, Brown, Bartlett & Gunn, P.C., based in Fort Collins, and has practiced law since 1983. His practice emphasizes water and water rights matters. Fischer represents mutual ditch and reservoir companies, municipalities, water users associations, districts and individual water users in all facets of water law.
On learning of his appointment Fischer said, “I am honored to be appointed as a director of Northern Water. Northern Water has always been a leading water provider in northern Colorado and I look forward to the opportunity to serve on the boards.”
Fischer also has served on several boards related to natural resources, water rights and water quality issues in northern Colorado, including the Water Quality Advisory Committee of the Larimer-Weld Council of Governments, the Natural Resources Advisory Board for the City of Fort Collins and the Fort Collins Water Board.
Fischer’s appointment comes after director Bill Brown’s retirement from the boards earlier this month.
Dennis Yanchunas of Boulder County and Don Magnuson representing Weld County were also reappointed to four-year terms.
Director Yanchunas was first appointed in 2010 and currently serves as the president of the Municipal Subdistrict Board. Yanchunas is a retired securities broker and also serves as president of the St. Vrain and Left Hand Conservancy District board.
Director Magnuson has served on the boards since September 2004. Magnuson is the former superintendent of the Cache la Poudre Irrigating Company and owns a ranching operation.
Northern Water directors represent the eight county service area and are appointed to four-year terms by District Court judges.
