*CORRECTED* Centennial, Colo. – Sept. 15, 2016 – This weekend at the Denver Post’s Pedal the Plains, a team of cyclists will ride as team #FarmPower for the second consecutive year. A collaboration between Colorado Farm Bureau, Coloradans for Responsible Energy Development and Keep Electricity Affordable, the team’s goal is to highlight the importance of energy to Colorado’s farmers and ranchers.
“A healthy agricultural economy depends on affordable and abundant energy, but that’s not all,” team #FarmPower co-captain and Colorado Farm Bureau Executive Vice President Chad Vorthmann said. “Colorado farms are also a significant source for development of the natural gas, oil and electrical transmission lines that power our lives and our economy. Energy powers the farms, who produce the food, that powers you.”
From the fuel that powers tractors, electricity needed for irrigation, fertilizer for crops, to the trucks to deliver food to the grocery store, energy is a critical part of modern food production.
Follow #FarmPower on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram as participants will be posting live updates, agriculture and energy facts and photos from the ride. For more information on team #FarmPower or each sponsor, go to:
