Colorado youth participated in the American Junior Simmental Association (AJSA) National Classic, with others competing at June regional contests.

The July 9-15 Junior National event drew more than 500 participants to Des Moines, IA. Kendal Reitzenstein placed 15th and 18th overall with her owned percentage heifers, plus she took 10th in showmanship.

David Smith placed in the top 5 with his owned percentage heifer, plus he placed 20th in senior showmanship.

New Colorado Junior Simmental member Michael Semler took 4th in Sales Talk and 11th in livestock judging, earning him an 17th overall in senior division points. He also exhibited a purebred Simmental heifer in the week-long contest. Continue reading

Simmental recognizes volunteers, elects officers

CoSimmentalLogoFORT COLLINS, CO – A ranch tour, junior contests and elections were part of state Simmental summer activities hosted July 16 by Altenburg Super Baldy Ranch near here.

In the youth association, Chad Russell of Sugar City turned the gavel over to Bryce Hill of Sterling. Keanna Smith of Ignacio was re-elected vice-president and Shelby Temple of Center was elected secretary. Continue reading
