GRAIN STOCKS – June 1, 2016

ARIZONA

Off-farm corn stocks in Arizona on June 1, 2016 were 1.36 million bushels, down 40 percent from June 1, 2015, according to the June 1 Agricultural Survey and June Grain Stocks Report conducted by the Mountain Regional Field Office of the National Agricultural Statistics Service, USDA. Off-farm all wheat stocks in Arizona on June 1, 2016 were 2.42 million bushels, Arizona grain stocks were not published separately to avoid disclosing data for individual operations.

COLORADO

All corn stocks in Colorado on June 1, 2016 were 41.66 million bushels, up 40 percent from June 1, 2015, according to the June 1 Agricultural Survey and June Grain Stocks Report conducted by the Mountain Regional Field Office of the National Agricultural Statistics Service, USDA. All corn stocks stored on farms amounted to 22.00 million bushels, up 57 percent from a year ago. All corn stored off farms amounted to 19.66 million bushels, up 25 percent from a year ago. Off-farm sorghum stocks were 1.14 million bushels, up from 62,000 bushels on June 1, 2015. Off-farm oat stocks in Colorado were estimated at 50,000 bushels, down 12 percent from last year. Off-farm barley stocks totaled 5.21 million bushels, up 1 percent from last year.

All wheat stocks in Colorado on June 1, 2016 were 28.23 million bushels, up 62 percent from June 1, 2015. All wheat stocks stored on farms amounted to 4.80 million bushels, up 60 percent from a year ago. All wheat stored off farms amounted to 23.43 million bushels, up 63 percent from a year ago. Other Colorado grain stocks were not published separately to avoid disclosing data for individual operations.

MONTANA

Off-farm corn stocks in Montana on June 1, 2016 were 26,000 bushels, down 48 percent from June 1, 2015, according to the June 1 Agricultural Survey and June Grain Stocks Report conducted by the Mountain Regional Field Office of the National Agricultural Statistics Service, USDA. All oat stocks in Montana were estimated at 472,000 bushels, down 12 percent from last year. On-farm oat stocks were 450,000 bushels, down 10 percent from a year ago. Oats stored off-farm were down 39 percent from last year to 22,000 bushels. Montana barley stocks in all positions on June 1, 2016 were 16.66 million bushels, up 6 percent from a year ago. Barley stored on farms totaled 4.40 million bushels, down 20 percent from last year. Off-farm barley storage was up 19 percent from a year ago to 12.26 million bushels.

All wheat stocks in Montana on June 1, 2016 were 57.29 million bushels, up 4 percent from June 1, 2015. All wheat stocks stored on farms amounted to 38.00 million bushels, up 3 percent from a year ago. All wheat stored off farms amounted to 19.29 million bushels, up 6 percent from a year ago. Durum wheat stocks on June 1, 2016 were 5.70 million bushels, up 41 percent from a year ago. Other Montana grain stocks were not published separately to avoid disclosing data for individual operations.

UTAH

Off-farm oats stocks in Utah on June 1, 2016 were 27,000 bushels, up 23 percent from June 1, 2015, according to the June 1 Agricultural Survey and June Grain Stocks Report conducted by the Mountain Regional Field Office of the National Agricultural Statistics Service, USDA. Off-farm barley stocks totaled 102,000 bushels, up 9 percent from June 1, 2015. Off-farm all wheat stocks in Utah on June 1, 2016 were 4.66 million bushels, down 5 percent from last year. Other Utah grain stocks were not published separately to avoid disclosing data for individual operations.

WYOMING

Off-farm barley stocks in Wyoming on June 1, 2016 were 3.02 million bushels, up 88 percent from June 1, 2015, according to the June 1 Agricultural Survey and June Grain Stocks Report conducted by the Mountain Regional Field Office of the National Agricultural Statistics Service, USDA. Other Wyoming grain stocks were not published separately to avoid disclosing data for individual operations.

UNITED STATES

Corn stocks in all positions on June 1, 2016 totaled 4.72 billion bushels, up 6 percent from June 1, 2015. Of the total stocks, 2.47 billion bushels are stored on farms, up 9 percent from a year earlier. Off-farm stocks, at 2.25 billion bushels, are up 3 percent from a year ago. The March – May 2016 indicated disappearance is 3.10 billion bushels, compared with 3.30 billion bushels during the same period last year.

Grain sorghum stored in all positions on June 1, 2016 totaled 88.3 million bushels, up 157 percent from a year ago. On-farm stocks, at 9.70 million bushels, are up 228 percent from last year. Off-farm stocks, at 78.6 million bushels, are up 151 percent from June 1, 2015. The March – May 2016 indicated disappearance from all positions is 113 million bushels, up 32 percent from the same period last year.

Oats stored in all positions on June 1, 2016 totaled 56.8 million bushels, 6 percent above the stocks on June 1, 2015. Of the total stocks on hand, 18.4 million bushels are stored on farms, 21 percent above a year ago. Off-farm stocks totaled 38.5 million bushels, slightly below the previous year. Indicated disappearance during March – May 2016 totaled 18.5 million bushels, 226 percent above the same period a year ago.

Barley stocks in all positions on June 1, 2016 totaled 102 million bushels, up 30 percent from June 1, 2015. On-farm stocks are estimated at 27.7 million bushels, 32 percent above a year ago. Off-farm stocks, at 74.7 million bushels, are 30 percent above June 1, 2015. The March – May 2016 indicated disappearance is 35.1 million bushels, 11 percent below the same period a year earlier.

Wheat stored in all positions on June 1, 2016 totaled 981 million bushels, up 30 percent from a year ago. On-farm stocks are estimated at 197 million bushels, up 27 percent from last year. Off-farm stocks, at 784 million bushels, are up 31 percent from a year ago. The March – May 2016 indicated disappearance is 391 million bushels, up 1 percent from the same period a year earlier.

Durum wheat stocks in all positions on June 1, 2016 totaled 27.9 million bushels, up 9 percent from a year ago. On-farm stocks, at 12.2 million bushels, are up 19 percent from June 1, 2015. Off-farm stocks totaled 15.7 million bushels, up 2 percent from a year ago. The March – May 2016 indicated disappearance of 14.7 million bushels is up 22 percent from the same period a year earlier.

Soybeans stored in all positions on June 1, 2016 totaled 870 million bushels, up 39 percent from June 1, 2015. On-farm stocks totaled 281 million bushels, up 14 percent from a year ago. Off-farm stocks, at 589 million bushels, are up 55 percent from a year ago. Indicated disappearance for the March – May 2016 quarter totaled 661 million bushels, down 5 percent from the same period a year earlier.

Pulse crops stored in all positions on June 1, 2016 and the change from June 1, 2015 are: dry edible peas, 3.70 million cwt, up 19 percent; lentils, 478 thousand cwt, down 27 percent; Austrian winter peas, 57.0 thousand cwt, up 10 percent; all chickpeas, 618 thousand cwt, down 19 percent; small chickpeas, 100 thousand cwt, down 44 percent; and large chickpeas, 518 thousand cwt, down 11 percent. Small chickpeas are defined as peas that will pass through a 20/64 inch round hole screen.
