Upcoming activities and events on the RMFU calendar
June 27: The High Desert Growers Association (our collaborative Mesa County Chapter with the National Young Farmers Coalition) is hosting a June BBQ at Palisade Produce at 6:30 (this event might be postponed). The BBQ topic is Summer Mental Health for farmers, so come and take a load off with your fellow farmers.
June 28: Western Colorado Food and Farm Forum Planning Meeting in Montrose, Colo. We’ve already started planning for this Years Food and Farm Forum, in collaboration with Valley Food Partners, CSU Extension, National Young Farmers Coalition, and the Shavano Conservation District. This will be our fifth year hosting the conference and it’s going to be bigger and better than ever!
June 28: The Roaring Fork Farmers and Ranchers Chapter (or collaborative Garfield, Pitkin, Eagle Chapter with the National Young Farmers Coalition) is holding their one year Anniversary Party with a special screening of the “How We Grow” trailer, a film highlighting the new food movement in the Roaring Fork Valley.
June 29: Uncompahgre BLM Resource Management Plan Public Meeting. This is an extremely important meeting in a series of meetings to determine the next 20-30 years of BLM management in the Uncompahgre field region.
July 6: RMFU and NBA Tour of the Plains Conservation Center at 1:30 with Rodale Institute executive director Jeff Moyer and National Bison Association Executive Director Dave Carter, with a happy hour at Denver Urban Gardens to follow at 5:30. Open to all! This will be an exceptional tour with the leader of one of the Country’s preeminent organic research institutes. RSVP to firstname.lastname@example.org.
