Aubriel Jones – RMFU Membership Coordinator

At the beginning of June Eastern Membership Coordinator Aubriel Jones andDirector of Membership Harrison Topp hit the road for Aubriel’s first tour of Eastern Colorado.  Briefly, here’s Aubriel’s “report.

We headed to Crowley County to meet folks in Onley Springs. Matt and Karen Heimerich hosted a BBQ at their beautiful farm. We were able to take a tour of Matt’s operation and see some irrigation and cropping systems. About 20 people attended. It was a beautiful evening full of great people and engaging conversations.

We went through Elbert and Lincoln counties and stopped stopped for lunch at Limon with agents and chapter members. Later we were able to visit Curtis Sayles in Seibert where we met his family and toured his farm. Later in the evening we traveled to Yuma County for a BBQ that was hosted by RMFU member Tom Parks. Many membrs attending the event were interested in doing workshops and tours in their community, so we developed a contact list for future events.

“We both helped judge competitions at the Colorado State FFA Convention and had a booth set up throughout the day for students and adults to learn more about RMFU. That evening we were able to have dinner with Dr. Michael Martin, who is the Agricultural Literacy Advisor for Colorado State University.

At our booth we had students participate in cooperative games where they competed and worked together to win prizes. At lunch we met with insurance agent Rick Jackson. Later on in the evening we sponsored an ice cream social.”
