FARM Program Becomes Even More Valuable
Big changes are coming to National Dairy Farmers Assuring Responsible Management (FARM) program. Beginning January 2017, dairies evaluated under FARM 3.0 will also be Beef Quality Assurance (BQA) certified.
On July 19, there will be an event at the JBS USA Headquarters to provide an opportunity for learning and discussion about adding value to market cows and how to make the most of the FARM/BQA collaboration, and all our farmers are invited to attend. Please join us and Colorado Livestock Association’s Dairy Council, Colorado Beef Quality Assurance and Colorado State University Department of Animal Sciences at this exclusive event to gain first-hand knowledge and insight about market cow carcass value and quality from the largest market cow packer in the U.S., JBS USA.
At the event, the following topics will be discussed:
The need for beef from marked dairy cow carcasses
Market dairy cow procurement and pricing methods
Meat inspection, food safety and drug residues
Market dairy cow welfare and well-being, milk processing and dairy beef growth in Colorado
Changes to the FARM program
Development of dairy cow supply chain.
