Virgil Green Announced as NEW Fuel Up to Play 60 Representative
The Western Dairy Association announced during their June Dairy Month celebration that Denver Broncos tight end Virgil Green will be replacing David Bruton, Jr. as the Denver Broncos Fuel Up to Play 60 player representative!
In addition to his exceptional work ethic and his ability to inspire youth to make healthy choices, Green’s obvious interest in the dairy community makes him the perfect person to represent FUTP 60. To help get him ready to represent the program and dairy farmers, we took him on a dairy farm tour. Even though the California town he grew up in had a lot of dairy farms, this was the first time he actually set foot on a dairy.
“Everything was so meticulous and in the proper place – things are done just right,” Green said, describing the dairy farm. “It was great to be a part of the whole thing. I’d actually like to go again and check out more – I want to go the behind the scenes and see everything!”
Bruton, our former FUTP 60 representative and huge dairy supporter, believes Green is an excellent choice for his replacement.
“It’s clear that he should be the advocate for Fuel Up to Play 60 and dairy farmers. For someone who drinks as much milk as he does, it just makes sense!” Bruton said, referring to Green’s admission that he has finished a gallon of milk by himself in one day.
“The key to success as a dairy farmer is hard work – whether it’s providing the highest quality milk, caring for animals, or preserving the environment. Virgil is known among his peers for his amazing work ethic, coming from humble beginnings to the elite in his sport,” said Rick Podtburg, Chairman of the Western Dairy Board of Directors. “The Fuel Up To Play 60 Program is all about rolling up your sleeves and helping kids and their families understand the power of good nutrition and physical activity. Virgil brings his work ethic to everything he does, and I’m looking forward to working hard with him to serve our community.”
