Colorado Farm Bureau Recognizes top
Legislative Awards

Centennial, Colo. – Following the close of the legislative session, Colorado Farm Bureau is pleased to recognize legislators who stood up for agriculture. The honorees are Colorado state legislators who showed their willingness to advocate on behalf of farmers and ranchers and with Colorado Farm Bureau policies and priorities. They are recognized through the Friend of Farm Bureau and Pinnacle Awards.

“The Pinnacle Award is Colorado Farm Bureau’s most prestigious legislative award,” CFB President Don Shawcroft said.

The award is presented to one legislator from each party in each chamber to recognize their support on issues vital to Colorado agriculture. The award is presented every two years, at the end of the legislative cycle. For the 70th General Assembly the CFB Pinnacle Award recipients are: Rep. J. Paul Brown (R), Rep. Ed Vigil (D), Sen. Leroy Garcia (D) and Sen. Mark Scheffel (R).

“These recipients consistently supported issues vital to Colorado agriculture and sought ways to protect property rights, advocate for natural resources and safeguard our prior-appropriations water system,” Shawcroft said.

Additionally, Colorado Farm Bureau recognizes the Friend of Farm Bureau recipients. These are legislators who have exceptional voting records, are willing to sponsor and support bills important to agriculture and stand out when it comes to advocating Farm Bureau priorities. The Friend of Farm Bureau award is recognized on an annual basis, at the end of each legislative session.
