Two Fuel Up to Play 60 Schools Visit Dairy Farms
This week, two farms had visits from Fuel Up to Play 60 students. Getting students on the farm gives them a better understanding of where their milk comes from and helps ensure they’ll be lifetime consumers of dairy.
Hudson Academy toured Lost Creek Dairy on Wednesday, where third, fourth and fifth graders learned where milk comes from, tried milking June the cow and enjoyed cheese sticks! The tour was set up so that students could go from station to station to learn about the different aspects of dairy, from how the milking parlors work, to animal care, what the cows eat and dairy products.
On Thursday, Brentwood Middle School students visited Galeton Dairy to see exactly what it takes to run a dairy farm – they learned that each and every job on the farm contributes to the dairy’s success! Plus they got to see first-hand the amount of care each and every cow on a dairy gets.
Thank you to the Eldred family, Faulkner family and Debbie Preston for hosting!
