05/29 - US Congressman Cory Gardner’s Wheat Tour in Burlington & Genoa is TODAY (May 29th) - The Colorado Wheat Administrative Committee (CWAC) and the Colorado Association of Wheat Growers (CAWG) will host the Gardner Wheat Tour on Tuesday, May 29, 2012. The wheat tour will include events in two locations, and is an opportunity for wheat producers to meet and talk with U.S. Congressman Cory Gardner. Colorado wheat producers are invited to attend and participate in the following events scheduled on Tuesday, May 29. The meals are co-sponsored by Gordon Insurance of Limon. A lunch program with Kit Carson County area wheat farmers will begin at 11:45 a.m. at Dorman Brothers, east of Burlington at 19230 County Road 55 (County Road 55 and Highway 24). 03/23 – CFB Foundation: Help “Heartstrong Wildfire Farmers & Ranchers - Benefit show to be held March 24 in Yuma - Colorado Farm Bureau Foundation has established an agricultural disaster fund to help those in need, but we need your help. The Foundation has activated a fund to help those in agriculture devastated by the destructive fire that swept through Yuma County on March 18. Farmers and ranchers lost miles of fencing, hay and grass and they need your help. The fire has endangered humans, livestock, structures and homes and has left a large swath of destruction. The fire that is now 100 percent contained burned a total of 24,000 acres, 38 square miles. There were two homes that were a complete loss. All donations will be distributed to those farmers and ranchers affected by the destruction.
