WELD COUNTY, CO – During Wednesday’s Board Meeting, the Weld County Commissioners recognized Weld County Sheriff’s Office employee Margie Martinez for her 34 years of service to the county.
Martinez, who officially retired from the Sheriff’s Office earlier this month, returned for the presentation ceremony today where she was awarded a plaque by the Board.
“You have left your fingerprints on Weld County,” said Commissioner Douglas Rademacher, “and you will be missed.”
Each of the Commissioners took a moment to thank Martinez for her years of service with the Sheriff’s Office as well as for her dedication to the community through her participation in other organizations such as United Way of Weld County and the Honor Flight.
“You have been a fixture in Weld County,” said Commissioner Barbara Kirkmeyer.
Martinez started with the Sheriff’s Office in 1979 and worked for three different Sheriff’s during her career. She commented on how much the department has grown and how she always approached her job with the attitude of “treat others as I would want to be treated in their position.”
