Jackson Lake State Park announced Tuesday that the water level in the lake is dropping and the anticipated last date for launching a boat is July 25.
ORCHARD, Colo. – Jackson Lake State Park announced Tuesday that the water level in the lake is dropping and the anticipated last date for launching a boat is July 25. The boat ramp will be out of the water at this time, said Jackson Lake State Park Manager Brad Jackson.
“We will allow hand launch only until such time the water has receded enough from the ramp,” said Jackson. “Vehicles may back the trailer only off of the concrete ramp to hand launch a vessel. Vehicles will not be permitted on any part of the lake bottom.”
The two swim beaches will close on July 9, as well, he said. Visitors can check the water level by checking to the park’s website,

The water level is dropping due to the lack of precipitation and the need for water for irrigation. All of the water in Jackson Lake is owned by an irrigation company and other entities. Colorado Parks and Wildlife leases the surface rights for recreation.
The park will remain open all year for camping, wildlife viewing, OHV riding on the track and many other activities. The annual chili and Dutch oven cook-off will still take place in September. Hunting ducks from boats this fall will not be possible because boats can’t be launched, said Jackson.
