06-19-12 VIDEO: US Congressman Gardner on Domestic Energy and Jobs Act

WASHINGTON D.C. – Today, Congressman Cory Gardner (R-CO) made the following comments at a press conference on the Domestic Energy and Jobs Act:
HIGHLIGHTS:
“We can power the American economy by unleashing the energy industry. There are 22 oil and gas projects in the western United States. If we were to move forward with those 22 oil and gas projects, they could create as many as 121,000 jobs.”
“Legislation within the bill makes sure that we don’t strangle through litigation our ability to move forward on oil and gas development in the western United States and on our federal lands.”
“This legislation is designed to do two things. Number one: create jobs and power our economy. Number two: make sure that we are reducing the price of gas at the pump. This is relief that our constituents are demanding. Our gas prices have exceeded $3.50 for much of this year and last year – almost 100% more than they were three years ago.”
