10-01-11 Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment Working Against Agriculutre‏

You may have heard recently about the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) partnering with an  initiative called “Food Day”.  “Food Day” is an event created by the Center for Science in the Public Interest.  Colorado Farm Bureau (CFB) has great concerns about this partnership because in Food Day materials, organizing groups are publicizing widely propagated myths and untruths about agriculture and U.S. food production.

CFB views CDPHE’s involvement with Food Day as lending creditability to animal rights groups, radical environmental groups and activist groups. As an agency who has signed on as a sponsor of Food Day and an agency with some regulatory authority over numerous Colorado agricultural producers, CDPHE should know that many of the misrepresentations presented as fact by Food Day’s messaging are misleading to the public and damaging to the agriculture industry.
