An Open Letter…
Dear America,
There are many dates in history that each of us can point to – dates that have changed the course of history in our great country. From great tragedy to triumphant victory, we have committed every detail to memory of where we were during the exact moment it happened.
With the vote on the health care bill scheduled to take place tomorrow in the House of Representatives, I hope your memory of this historic day will be one of civil action – on the phone, sending emails, attending rallies to stop one of the biggest government takeovers of our time. I hope you will stand with me to fight this bill – urging our members of Congress to stand up for our Constitution and to stop the government takeover. Our nation deserves better – let’s deliver the message loud and clear.
The health care bill includes over $700 Billion in new taxes on businesses and medical equipment; combined with $1 Trillion in spending. It authorizes funding of abortions through the public option. It creates “voluntary” payroll tax to drive mandatory spending and taxes Health Savings Accounts. The bill fails to make real medical liability reform, a boon to trial lawyers.
AND THE BILL ONCE AGAIN EXEMPTS MEMBERS OF CONGRESS FROM HAVING TO JOIN THE PUBLIC OPTION.
What’s the old saying? If it’s good for the goose it’s good for the gander? But if this health care bill passes, it’s our goose that gets cooked.
Most people agree we need to lower the cost of health care. I believe we can find real solutions to do just that WITHOUT a government takeover. Let’s break down the barriers and allow competition across state lines. Empower individuals by giving tax breaks for consumers that reflect the same tax breaks businesses receive when purchasing insurance. Place meaningful caps on malpractice lawsuits. Use technology to reduce cost and increase quality of care. And there are many, many more solutions.
Doctor Government is NOT the answer.
You’ve stood up for this country time and time again. Let’s do it together once more.
